A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official attached to the RS 8.28 Igede Unit Command, Ekiti State, SMI GM Kolawole, has sustained a leg fracture after he was knocked down by a motorcycle rider allegedly evading arrest along the Ado-Iyin Road.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 1, 2026, when the motorcycle rider, identified as Master Oladapo Success, was reportedly riding at high speed and recklessly while attempting to evade arrest by FRSC personnel.
The impact left the FRSC official injured, prompting his colleagues to immediately rush him to a hospital for medical attention.
The FRSC said the motorcycle rider, upon seeing the severity of the incident, allegedly feigned unconsciousness at the scene, an action which reportedly attracted public sympathy and could have triggered a mob action against the FRSC personnel.
However, the situation was brought under control following the prompt intervention of police officers from the New Iyin Police Division.
Reacting to the incident, the Sector Commander, FRSC Ekiti Sector Command, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, FCIPurS, MCILT, expressed concern over what he described as the continuous recklessness of motorcycle operators in the state.
Adeoye said the command would scale up enforcement against critical traffic offences that contribute to road crashes across Ekiti State.
He reiterated that the vision of the Corps was to create a safe motoring environment towards achieving zero road traffic crashes.
The Sector Commander also directed the Intelligence Office of the command to conduct a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He further appealed to all road users, particularly motorcycle operators, to obey traffic rules and regulations, stressing that reckless driving could result in serious consequences for both road users and law enforcement personnel.
Adeoye subsequently visited the two victims in the hospital and prayed for their speedy recovery.
