The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ekiti State Command has commenced a 5-day special enforcement on the Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme, RTSSS, with patrol teams deployed to motor parks, highways and school zones across the state.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, said the exercise, which runs from Monday to Friday, is in line with the directive of the Corps Marshal and part of a nationwide drive to standardize road transport operations and reduce crashes.
Adeoye said the enforcement will focus on non-compliance with the legally approved electronic passenger manifest, non-registration of fleet operators, overloading of passengers and goods, installation of extra seats, and violations by school bus operators.
According to him, the objectives include creating public awareness, enrolling unregistered fleet operators into the RTSSS database, ensuring continuous implementation of RTSSS policies, assessing compliance levels among transport operators, and enforcing the use of FRSC certification stickers on all registered commercial vehicles.
He added that the Command had deployed patrol teams, RTSSS desk officers, and mobile courts to strategic locations.
He stressed that Ekiti State would not be exempted from total compliance with FRSC standards nationwide, and warned that defaulters will face arrest, vehicle impoundment and prosecution.
