The Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set the nomination fees for individuals vying for local government chairman and councillor positions in the upcoming elections.
Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa, the State Deputy Chairman of the APC, made this known during a press briefing held at the Katsina Government House Banquet Hall.
According to Musawa, the nomination fee for the position of local government chairman has been fixed at N5 million, while aspiring councillors will need to pay N1.5 million for their nomination forms. He stressed that all payments must be made directly into the party’s account.
The sale of nomination forms is scheduled to commence from May 1st to May 4th, 2024. Completed forms must be returned to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) by May 9th, 2024.
He also provided details of the election timetable, indicating that primary elections for council chairmen will be held on May 18th, followed by councillorship primaries. The final list of candidates from the primaries will be submitted to the State Electoral Commission on May 20th.
Musawa urged all contestants to adhere strictly to the election guidelines, especially during their electioneering campaigns.
