Drunk Soldier Allegedly Kills Man While Celebrating Birthday

A tragic incident unfolded in Marish community, Plateau State, as a drunk soldier allegedly killed Joseph Jelmang, a villager while celebrating his birthday.

According to the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), the incident occurred on April 22.

BCDC, in a statement by its chairman, Barr. Farmasum Fuddang, condemned the incident, stating that the soldier, identified as Gideon, fired random shots at a relaxation center, resulting in Jelmang’s death.

The Chairman BCDC, denounced the attempt to conceal the crime and called for swift action from military authorities and the Attorney General to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrator.

The statement reads in part “We strongly condemned the perpetrators’ desperate attempt to conceal the crime by falsely labeling the innocent passerby and residents who tried to save his life by transporting him to the hospital as militants.

“We demand the swift and decisive action of the military authorities and the Attorney General in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law.”

Additionally, BCDC demanded the release of individuals previously arrested by soldiers in Marish.
