…as NYSC Ekiti State Coordinator seeks construction of camp hall

In respect to the Swearing-in Ceremony of Batch B, Stream 2 Corps Members in Ekiti State, the Governor of the State, Biodun Oyebanji, has alerted the Corps Members on their roles as agents of change against social vices, saying that, they patriotic fighters for the nation.

Oyebanji made the statement today in his speech delivered by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Adedayo Gold Adeshola, at the State’s National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise/Orun Emure.

According to him, the Corps Members represent transformative agents against issues in the society, hence, calling on the corporation of the Corps Members to tackle the vices.

He said, “You are all Agents of change to fight the cankerworms which have eaten deep into the fabric of our national lives and values. I particularly invite you to join us in the fight against the ills prevalent in our society, such as unemployment, corruption, poverty, kidnapping, illiteracy, rural neglect, drug abuse and infrastructural decay.”

Also, Governor Oyebanji commended the out-gone and serving Corps Members in the State for their contribution to the growth of the State through the Scheme’s Community Development Service, CDS, Projects and Sensitisation Programmes.

“Their contributions to the fight against socio-economic development through their various Community Development Service (CDS) projects and sensitisation programmes have left indelible marks in the annals of our history which will never be forgotten no matter what,” he noted.

He further implored the Corps Members to utilise the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, effectively towards creating wealth. In his words, “It is in the light of this that I enjoin you to be patriotic in all your activities, tasking you to take your trainings in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of NYSC both in camp and in your places of primary assignment very seriously.”

Commending the State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, Oyebanji said, the Cordinator has been doing a good job since he assumed duty as the head of the Scheme in the State, adding that “The evidence is being shown with the Corps Members’ attitude in their Places of Primary Assignment and other activities of the Scheme in the State.”

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Shuaibu, in his welcome address
appealed for a facelift of the orientation camp, he said, “I also join our Director-General, Brigadier-General Y.D Ahmed, to appeal to the State Governor to further see to the upgrade of the orientation camp, especially in the construction of a befitting Hall for Lectures and other social activities. The rating of a good camp cannot be made possible without a standard hall to complement.”

Also, he commended Governor Oyebanji for providing an environment and measures that contributed to the success of the Scheme in the State.

He further applauded collaborating agencies, host-traditional rulers and Local Government Councils Chairmen of Ise, Orun and Emure-Ekiti for supporting the Scheme.
