C-19RM/RSSH Grant: Monarch, Religious Bodies, Others Donate Items to Health Facilities in Ekiti

As part of measures to achieve the objectives of the C-19RM/RSSH Grant, the various Community Based Organizations, CBOs, engaged for the project have achieved yet another unprecedented success stories.

Part of the objective of the project is to ensure that stakeholders, members of communities and corporate bodies take ownership of the health facilities in their areas and render assistance for their sustenance.

At the monthly coordination meeting of the project for August held on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, the CBOs working in various Local Government Areas, LGAs, including Oye, Ikole, Ijero, Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun said they recorded success stories.

According to the CBO in Oye LGA, the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti, Oba Oluwole Ademolaju issued a cheque for the roofing of the health facility at Ogbonmeta Basic Health Centre while community members constructed 3 benches and 1 table for the staff of Itapa Basic Health Centre.

In the same vein, success stories were achieved in Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA where the Village Development Committee repaired torn window nets at Ilamoye Basic Health Centre while the youths got 100 blocks and bought GP Tank for the health facility.

Also, through advocacy, the CBO said they received 2 standing fans from the Christian Association of Nigeria in Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA while a Muslim Group donated 30 blocks in Awo-Ekiti Basic Health Centre.

Meanwhile, in Ijesha-Isu Basic Health Centre in Ikole LGA, a visiting medical doctor has been assigned to the facility due to the lack of medical doctors.

Ado and Ijero LGAs equally recorded success stories as some health facilities in the areas were equipped with equipments and drugs.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Environmental Development and Family Health Organisation, Sir Olu Ogunrotimi urged the CBOs to continue to work in line with the specified rules of the project and visit the old facilities.
