…distribute rice to vulnerable members
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NUP, Ekiti State has distributed the Palliative rice received from the Government to members across the sixteen Local Government.
The rice was handed over to Chairmen and Secretaries of the Union across the sixteen Local Governments of the State as well as parastatals.
Distributing the rice, NUP Chairman, Comrade Joel Akinola warned the Branch Executives not to divert the grains saying anyone caught in such act would be duly sanctioned.
Akinola noted that the rice is meant solely for vulnerable pensioners, adding that the Union would strictly monitor the distribution process.
He said: “The Bible says, in all things, we should thank God, the situation may not have been the best, but we must also thank God for the improvement we have witnessed recently.
“I urge you all to maintain the integrity of the Union, do not divert the rice ensure you distribute it to every vulnerable pensioner in your council.”
He advised the Pensioners to ensure regular medical check-up and take their medications regularly so as to remain healthy.
The NUP Chairman highlighted the sharing formula as, Ado 8, Ikere 6, Ikole 6, Oye 6, Irepodun/Irepodun 6, Ekiti West 6, Ijero 6, Ido-Osi 6, Moba 5, Ise 5, South West 5, Enure 5, Gbonyin 5, Ekiti East 5, Efon 5, Ilejemeje 4.
Parastatals are Water 3, Sport 2 BSES 2, Electricity 2, Housing 2.
Responding, the pensioners appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the improved priority accorded to their well-being and prayed God to continue to uphold him, they however added that, like Oliver Twist, the pensioners will call for more being the most vulnerable.
