In line with the Supreme Court’s March 3rd ruling and the alledged commercial banks refusal to accept the old Nlnaira notes, Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has urged residents to accept old notes and also mandated them to report banks rejecting the notes.

He said this through his Facebook Page, today, noting that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has confirmed the dispensing and acceptance of the old notes.

“Commercial Banks have been directed by Central Banks to dispense old currency notes and to also receive the same as deposits from customers. The Governor of Central Bank gave the directives at the Bankers’ Committee meeting held on Sunday, 12th,2023.The Governer, Dr Emefiele personally confirmed the above to me during a phone conversation on Sunday Night.

“Residents of Anambra are therefore, advised to freely accept and transact their businesses with the old currency notes as well as the new notes. Residents should report any bank that refuses to accept deposits of the old notes.”
