Resident Doctors End Strike, Return To Work Today

Members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Sunday called off a five-day warning strike.

According to the chairman of the association, Orji Emeka Innocent, work will resume this morning at 8:00.The union went on strike last Wednesday after the federal government failed to meet their demands.

“The achieved progress will be reviewed at the association’s general meeting on June 2, 2023, and at that time the next steps will be decided,” said the president of NARD. On April 29, the association had given the government a two-week ultimatum, otherwise it would go on strike.

Some of the association’s demands include an immediate increase in the Medical Pay Structure to 200%. mass recruitment of clinical staff in hospitals.
