Just In: Judge Dismisses PDP, LP application for live coverage of court proceedings

The 2023 Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, PEPT has dismissed the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP application for live coverage of court proceedings.

The Chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Court, Justice Haruna Tsammani dismissed the application on Monday at the Court in Abuja.

According to Justice Tsammani, the application by the PDP and LP lacked merit.

It could be recalled, Roundoffnews reported that the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the LP Presidential candidate, Peter Obi are in Court seeking the nullification of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Moving on, the opposition Parties (PDP and LP) filed a separate application on May 8 seeking for live coverage of the court proceedings.

In contrast, Tinubu and INEC have opposed the application on the ground that the Court is not a theatre house and the demand is an abuse of the court process.
