POLICE PARTNER EKITI NUJ TO CURB CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES

…as NUJ Chairman wants more presence of Police in black spots

The Nigeria Police Force, Ekiti State Command and Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council have formed a synergy to checkmate criminal activities across towns and villages in the state.

The arrangement was concluded when the State Commissioner of Police paid a courtesy call to the Secretariat of NUJ, Oke Barake, Old Governor’s office Ado Ekiti, on Thursday.

Speaking during the visit, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Dare Ogundare explained that there was need for pen professionals to support police to check criminal activities through adequate reportage of the command activities.

Mr Ogundare appreciated the efforts of journalists in the state to enlighten members of the public on the efforts being put in place by police officers to ensure that residents sleep with their two eyes closed.

He said that necessary machinery had been put in place to make Ekiti State a peaceful place for all and sundry, saying the command had arrested one the the notorious criminals known as ‘Danger’ terrorising the state.

In his remark, the Chairman of NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela appreciated the CP for finding it worthy to visit members of the union.

Mr Ojomoyela urged police in the state to extend their services to some black spots in the state such as Atikakan, Oke Ako, Irele, Ipao, Ikere-Ise road.

The NUJ Chairman used the forum to commend the giant strides of the officer in charge of Rapid Response Squad RRS, Mr Marcus Ogundola.
