Ekiti AG Orders Improved Fight Against Human Trafficking, Heinous Crimes

….as Taskforce on Human Trafficking holds maiden meeting in 2025.

The Chairman, Ekiti State Taskforce on Human Trafficking who is the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Dayo Apata SAN has called on members of the Taskforce to fashion out a course to collaborate and work with one mindset to combat various heinous crimes and vices being perpetrated by young persons in the State.
Mr. Apata who made the call during the 2025 maiden meeting of members of the Taskforce in Ado Ekiti said that the collective efforts of members will add value to the work of the Taskforce in this year 2025.
The Attorney General condemned in strong terms the act of Stakeholders working in isolation which will most likely not yield concrete results, stressing that they should find a way to collaborate more and support themselves when carrying out their assignments.
He directed that a committee headed by the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Sunday Bamise be set up to identify major vices that affects young persons in Ekiti State and fashion out the best approach to handle such vices to reduce push and pull factors that increases trafficking of any kind.
The secretary of the State Taskforce, Mrs Shirley Atane presented the report of the 5-day Capacity Building for National Agency for the prohibition of trafficking in persons (NAPTIP)officers, State Taskforces and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on the harmonized reporting tools for the implementation of the National Action Plan, (NAP) held in Lagos recently. Mrs Shirley Atane reported that members of the Taskforce who attended the workshop were urged to reciprocate what they learnt to other Stakeholders in a step down training at their various States.
Representatives of NAPTIP, NDLEA, National Human Rights Commission unanimously urged Ekiti State Government to provide a befitting office accommodation for NAPTIP in the State, An operational Vehicle to aid the movement of Taskforce members to carry out their, a functional rehabilitation center, a Taskforce clinic in schools as well as funds & resources to run the organization in the State.
