The Founder of Opeyemi David Falegan Foundation, Opeyemi David Falegan has expressed excitement at the feat attained by an Ekiti born University of Lagos student, Olabode Ojo, who made a record breaking graduation grade at the University.
Mr Ojo, emerged the best-graduating student of UNILAG with an outstanding 5.00/5.00 grade in his Masters degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
Ojo, who hails from Esun-Ekiti, had his attained feat announced during the University’s convocation ceremony last week.
The Founder in a press statement applauded Ojo for breasting the tape and bagging the highest grade point up for grabs to take the overall lead.
“This is a pride to us in Ekiti, we feel on top of the world and we are proud indeed. Ojo has made himself a role model and a solid point of reference for youths in Ekiti State” Falegan remarked.
“Falegan saw the milestone as a corrective achievement that would encourage youths that are disillusioned and derailing to retrace their steps.
“This is apt and timely coming at a period where many youths are into vices, seeking questionable wealth without sweat and living in the illusion created by a new slogan on the streets that education is a scam.”
The Founder noted that the enviable record of Ojo has further heightened and highlighted the status of the typical Ekiti indigenes as people of academic excellence, cerebral display and intellectual capacity adding that the state parades the best of brains in many sectors within and outside Nigeria.
“This feat has further accentuated the fountain of knowledge identity which has become an emblem on our dear state reputed as counting professors per square meters.”
Falegan recently embarked on the screening of over 5000 free jamb applicants at his office.
Ojo had his Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
