…describes Wole Olanipekun as a legend

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to exempt Ekiti from the planned strike called to protest the non payment of new minimum wage, saying all arrangements have been made to commence the payment by December.

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress had directed Chairmen of States that have not commenced the payment of the new minimum wage to embark on strike beginning from Monday the 2nd of December, 2024, in which Ekiti is not an exception.

Reacting to the NLC directive during an interview with newsmen in Ikere-Ekiti shortly after the Wole Olanipekun Empowerment Programme, the Governor affirmed that all arrangements have been made to begin the payment

According to the Governor, the delay in payment was because of the prolonged negotiations which ended few weeks ago, adding that the budget for the payment had just been captured in the appropriation bill which he just signed.

He noted that his government is passionate about the welfare of workers and would continue to do everything to make life better for them.

Speaking on the empowerment program, the Governor described Wole Olanipekun SAN as a legend who has the fear of God at heart.

He praised the legal luminary for giving back to the vulnerable and less privileged saying such action would complement government’s efforts and promoting peaceful and happy society.
