Ekiti State government, in partnership with the National Population Commission (NPC), has introduced a digital registration initiative for children aged zero to five years.
In a post obtained from Ekiti State government official X handle said that “the digital birth registration will ensure that every child is properly documented, enabling both state and federal authorities to make informed decisions regarding policy development and resource allocation, thereby optimising access to services such as education, healthcare, and social protection.
“The registration, which will run through December 2024, plans to register over 156,000 children across Ekiti, each receiving a digital birth certificate officially recognised as a form of identification.
“Parents and guardians are advised to engage in this exercise, as documentation will aid in protecting children’s rights and combating child trafficking.”
