…converts government donated maize to fish feed before distribution to members

Members of the Ekiti State Fisheries and Aquaticulture Farmers Association have appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji over the maize allocated to the association with a call for more.
The fish farmers had earlier converted the recently donated 500 bags of maize from the state Government into fish feed and distributed it among certified members so as to ease the burden of high prices of fish meals and feeds.
Speaking with ROUNDOFFNEWS in Ado-Ekiti, the State Chairman of the Association, Dr Adebayo Ebenezer Temitope revealed that out of 500 bags donated 498 bags of feeds were made but said the figure was not enough to get a significant reduction in the prices as promised.
According to him, the maize was mixed with other ingredients that added nutrients to the feed saying if they get more and gave it out to members there will be appreciable reduction in their cost of production and that would have meaningful effect in the price of fish.
The chairman appreciated the Governor for the first phase of the support but said much more still needed to be done.
The Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Oso-Omotosho had earlier commended the association for making judicious use of the maize with a promise that government would do more.
