Ekiti Amotekun Arrests Man for Looting

The Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun, Ekiti State Command, has arrested one Labourer identified as Sunday Ojo, 35 for burgling into a shop and catered away food items worth over One Hundred thousand naira.

Ojo, according to the Chief of Operation of the Corps, Ajayi Aderotimi, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Inisa, Odo-Ado Ekiti following a tip off by his employer over possession of questionable volumes of food items in the hut where he stays.

He said the suspect stole the food items on Friday’s night, 14th July before he was finally arrested on 25th July.

The food items include, Bag of Rice, Pack of Indomie Noodles, pack of Three Crown Milks, Peak Milks, Soaps, Pack of Spaghetti, Maggi, among others.

In his words, “Following a tip off yesterday, this suspect was arrested at Odo -Ado for burglary and theft of food items.

“It was a tip off by his Employer and the neighborhood because they noticed such questionnaire volumes of food items inside a hut where he stays in the farm.”

Upon interrogation by Journalists, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he has been eating out the food items before he was caught.

When asked further, he said hunger and delayed payment by his Employer led him to the shameful act.

“I stole the food items because I had nothing on me again, and when I worked for my Employer, he would not pay me on time. That was why I displayed such act of greed.” He said

On her part, the Victim, Olumoroti Tolulope grieved over the act, adding that she bought the food items on credit in order to take care of her family.

Tolulope, who is Local Government Staff member in Ado-Ekiti, said she was transferred from Efon to Ado-Ekiti five months ago and borrowed over #100,000 to purchase the goods on thursday before the suspect looted the food items the following day.

However, Ajayi Aderotimi said the suspect will be transferred to the Nigerian Police Force for further investigation and actions.
