Reno Omokri Advocates laws To Limit Bride Prices

By Ihie Grace

Nigerian author and social media influencer Reno Omokri has implored African nations to have laws limiting how much being spent on burials and bride prices.

Reno made this known via his official Twitter handle @renoomokri on Wednesday.

According to him, “African nations need laws limiting how much can be spent on burials and bride prices, because of the poor situation of African communities and because breadwinners spend too much money to bury and marry and have little left for health, education, and business.

“It should be criminal to expect young men to cough out considerable fortunes to bury and marry. And indeed, it is putting a lot of pressure on our youths to engage in crime to get money at all costs. Money that is then wasted on a ceremony, rather than invested in a company.”
