Conflicts in Africa: Time to Build up African Standby Force – AU

The Chairperson of the African Union, AU has stated that there is a need to build the capacity of the African Standby Force (ASF) to enable an effective response to conflicts.

The Chairperson who was represented by Col. Rafick Soilihi of the Union of Comoros stated this in his opening statement during a meeting with African Representatives.

The statement was obtained from the verified Twitter handle of the African Union Political Affairs Peace and Security, @AUC_PAPS.

Part of the statement reads:
“(There is a) need to build capacity on the African Standby Force (ASF) to enable effective response to current and emerging conflict.”
