The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State has dismissed concerns over a recent Federal High Court judgment directing INEC to deregister the party, saying the ruling does not affect its governorship candidate or any candidates for the June 20, 2026 election.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity for the Ambassador Dare Bejide Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. Olugboyega Aribisogan, the party said its governorship flag-bearer, Ambassador Dare Bejide, and all House of Assembly, LGA chairmanship, and councilorship candidates remain valid and unaffected.
“The ADC will participate fully in the Saturday, June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State as planned. INEC Ekiti State has confirmed that our party’s logo and candidates on the ballot are secure,” the statement read.
The party described the deregistration attempt as a legal process that the national leadership is already addressing through due process. It noted that INEC has rejected the bid to deregister ADC and that the Court of Appeal has ordered a stay of execution on the Federal High Court judgment.
“Our focus in Ekiti now is grassroots mobilization and delivering victory for the people,” the campaign organisation said. “We urge all leaders, stakeholders, and members to remain calm, focused, and united. Do not be distracted by misinformation or attempts to cause panic. Our party is strong, our structure is solid, and our mission is clear.”
The statement concluded: “ADC in Ekiti State stands firm. We will not be derailed. Victory is assured by God’s grace and the will of Ekiti people.”
The clarification comes amid tension over the suit filed by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Forum of Former Legislators, which seeks to deregister ADC and four other parties for allegedly failing to meet constitutional electoral thresholds.
