The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old Adekola Amobi for assaulting female police operatives in a viral video in the Ido-Osun area of the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan, disclosed this to newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Osogbo.
Mr. Gotan said Amobi was arrested yesterday in Edo State, where he had fled in an attempt to evade arrest after the incident.
He explained that the suspect attacked the female operatives with a stick and a shovel.
The CP condemned the act, describing it as “barbaric,” and maintained that the Police would not tolerate any form of assault on its personnel in the course of their duty.
He urged residents to respect and cooperate with the Police while they perform their lawful duties.
The State CP added that the suspect, who is currently in custody, would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
