The Inclusive Forum for Accountable Society IFAS , Ekiti State Steering Committee met on Wednesday and agreed on an action plan towards the achieving its mandate.
The committee which was inaugurated on the 1st of September 2022 is expected to work on three local governments and eight communities which has been identified as worst hit by poverty in the state.
Specific Objectives of the committee are to Increase effectiveness, accountability, and transparency of government at local and state level. Create opportunity for sharing and learning better-fit approach (BFA) in participatory governance.
Others include to increase citizens’ participation in governance process, increase partnership and collaboration between government and CSOs.
At its maiden meeting held at the secretariat of the Environmental Development and Family Health Organization EDFHO, Chairman of the steering Committee, Chief Ayo Ilesanmi reiterated the need to bridge the gap between the rich and poor in the country.
He also emphasized an improved participation of people in governance and need to hold leaders accountable.
According to him, the action plan includes Advocacy to community leaders, awareness for communities and visits to concern authorities.
He promised that the plan would be well implemented with all vigour.
