UAE: Be law-abiding citizens in host country – Ex-Presidential Aide tells Nigerians

By Udesinanna Stephen

Following the resolution of diplomatic issues between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirate (UAE), the Media Aide to former President Mohammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has called on Nigerians to be law-abiding citizens in the host country.

Ahmad made the call on his X handle @BashirAhmaad.

He said, “As Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates restore the lingering diplomatic issues, it is equally important and our responsibility as Nigerians to be law-abiding citizens in the host country.”

Recall, the UAE authorities had in October 2022 slammed visa ban on Nigerians after suspending flights over its inability to repatriate trapped funds in Nigeria, also claiming that some Nigerians in UAE violated its laws, Premium Times reported.

Also, it could be recalled, ROUNDOFFNEWS reported that “The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has said, in collaboration with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, he will ensure commencement of Emirates Airline flights to Dubai and resolve visa issues with the country.”

Yesterday, President Bola Tinubu and President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday in Abu Dhabi, have finalised a historic agreement, which has resulted in the immediate cessation of the visa ban placed on Nigerian travellers.” The Punch reported.
