President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to approve the dismissal of the Head of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Babatunde Irukera.

Meanwhile, Tinubu asked the Nigerian Midstream, Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority to confirm Oluwole Andama in his post as Executive Director of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund, as gathered by ROUNDOFFNEWS.

The Senate President Godwin Akpabio referred President’s demands to the Committee on Gas and Downstream, leading to an executive session on national security-related matters.

He said,
“In conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions,” the president’s action was, according to the presidency, justified.

According to Presidential Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the “two dismissed Chief Executives are directed to hand over to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers,”
