Tax Reform Bill Will Benefit Low-income Earners, Says NOA Director

…as agency flags off campaign on security, HIV/AIDS eradication, others

The Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Issa-Onilu has urged Nigerians not to panic, saying the tax reform bill introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration will favour low income-earners in the country.

The Director stated this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, while addressing journalists at the flagging off ceremony of sensitisation campaign on security consciousness, get rich quick syndrome, HIV/AIDS eradication, Human Rights and Tax Reforms.

Issa-Onilu, represented by the agency’s National Director for Community outreach and development , Olubukola Olorunfemi, explained that taxation is essential for funding national development in order to make the system fairer and less burdensome for citizens.

He assured Nigerians that the bill will eradicate double taxations, enhance simpler and transparent processes with visible impacts.

His words, “Taxation is essential for finding national development, but we recognise that it has been a source of concern for many Nigerians due to issues like multiple taxation and its impact on low-income earners.

“The government is Implementing reforms to make the system fairer and less burdensome for citizens.

“The tax reform bills are four different bills that seeks to bring everything about taxation and administration of tax in Nigeria under four different pieces of legislation.

“The bills are: The Nigeria Tax Bill, The Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, The Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill and The Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill.

“These reforms are designed to ease the burden on hardworking Nigerians while ensuring everyone contributes fairly. By supporting this efforts, we can create a tax system that works for all and funds the development projects that will improve our nation”.
