...holds leadership retreat in Ekiti

Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, South West Caucus has honoured Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji with the Healthcare Impact Award.
Governor Oyebanji bagged the award at the 3rd Leadership Retreat of the association in Ado-Ekiti tagged: Ekiti Kete 2025.
Receiving the award, Governor Oyebanji, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun commended the association for deeming it necessary to honour him.
According to him, “To whom much is given, much is also expected. The Governor in his capacity as the governor of the State has actually done a lot concerning the association especially the ones in EKSUTH.
“There is a training funds they always request yearly to train the Resident Doctors and for the past two years the governor has made it a point of call to make sure that the funds are not just approved but it is also released as at when due.
“With this and the performance of our doctors in EKSUTH, the governor is definitely willing and able to do more according to what they will need to excel.”
Also, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani was honoured with the Champion of Health Service Award.
Speaking with Journalists, the immediate Past President of the Association at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti and Local Organizing Chairman of the event, Dr. Adeyemi Famous said the governor was honoured due to his tremendous impact in the health sector.
He said: “It’s an annual leadership conference that we hold for all the leaders of the Residents Doctors across the South West. We used the opportunity to train the incoming leaders of the association on the modus operandi of leadership and to review all the challenges of Residents Doctors across the zone.
“We are honouring them for their impacts in the health sector and that’s why we are giving the Governor the award of health impact in the health sector and the Commissioner the award of Champion of Health in the Health Sector.
“If we look at it since his inception of office, it has been one achievements over the other in the health sector, even the health indices we used to measure any administration has drastically improved on what it used to be.
“Ekiti State used to be the poorest state in the South West when it comes to this health indices but now the indices have improved positively. Kudos to the Governor and the Commissioner.”
Earlier, the association had organized a leadership retreat on various topics. The main speaker: Dr. Ayodeji Owoyemi spoke on “Managing Residents by Being the Relationship Builders, the Visionary Evangelists and the Execution Managers.
Also, the Sub-Theme Speaker – Dr. Raji Mustapha, delivered his lecture on “Crisis Management: One Crucial a Leadership Ability For Healthcare Workers.”
