TWO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DROWNED IN EKITI DAM

Two undergraduate students of the Ekiti State University EKSU, have been reportedly drowned in Ikun-Ekiti while swimming inside the popular Ikun dam.

The deceased, Oluwatobiloba Osho and Oladimeji Victor are students of the department of Theatre Arts of the University.

According to witness, the students joined their colleagues in company of their supervisor for a research work and rehearsal at Igogo Ekiti in the Ero LCDA.

However, tragedy struck after their supervisor had concluded the assignment and left Igogo with the team, but the two students were said to have reportedly stayed back and headed straight to the dam for sight seeing.

Since then, the two students have been missing.

Some members of the community suspected that they must have been drowned in the dam.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu confirmed that the students were actually missing but said the police could not authoritatively confirm whether they were drowned.

He noted that the police rescue team and fishermen have begun search for the victims in the dam and around the area.
