Ship-Hijack: Our civilians not on board – Israeli Gov’t tells Iran-backed militia

Following the hijack of a cargo ship by the Houthis militant near Yemen, the Israeli Government has said that Israeli civilians are not part of the hostage, adding that it is a global consequence not Israel.

Israel Defense Force (IDF) made this known lately in a media statement on its X handle @IDF.

This is coming an hours after the militia group issued a statement threatening to target Israeli flagged, owned and operated ships traversing the Red Sea, the New York Times reported.

IDF said that, “The hijacking of a cargo ship by the Houthis near Yemen in the southern Red Sea is a very grave incident of global consequence.

“The ship departed Turkey on its way to India, staffed by civilians of various nationalities, not including Israelis. It is not an Israeli ship.” The Force added.
