SDP CRISIS: LAWMAKER SUES FOR PEACE, CONDEMNS ACTIONS OF DESPERATE MEMBERS

Following the crisis that rocked the Congress of the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Ekiti State, the lawmaker representing, Ise/Orin on the platform of SDP, Hon. Babatunde Omotayo has appealed to the party supporters to embrace peace but said resolving the issue may take time.

Addressing members at the secretariat on Monday, January 6, 2024, after supporters clashed over disagreements in the list of executives, the lawmaker condemned the desperate actions of some individuals in the party.

The scheduled congress was postponed to Tuesday due to the tension that greeted the congress.

According to reports, trouble began when some party members compiled a list of new executives without consulting the two lawmakers from the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

Hon. Babatunde Omotayo while speaking with newsmen reaffirmed that he and his colleague from Ekiti East are the party leaders and must be duly carried along in party activities.

Hon. Babatunde assured the members that they would work towards ensuring peace within the party, acknowledging that resolving the issues might take time.
