The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has condemned the gang rape of a 20 years old girl in Imo state who was in her period, saying that the case will be taken up.

The Force Public Relations Officers,
Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known today via his X handle @Princemoye1 while responding to @PIDOMNIGERIA, who raised the case.

PIDOMNIGERIA said, “The 20 year old girl was raped by 3 men in Owerri after one of them hacked her friend’s WhatsApp and used it to lure her to a location. She was on her monthly period, but they still raped her. She cried and came back home, but was bold enough to be confined to a male friend of hers.”

According to him, the girl has undergone a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) test, and the suspects have been taken to the police, but he fears if justice will be attained, noting that he will reveal the victim’s name at a later time.

In response, the Police PRO condemned the act noting that rape is barbaric, and the case must be followed as the supposed Police Unit has been contacted

He said, “We condemn this heinous act in totality. The matter will never be swept under the carpet or rug. We have contacted the Osun State Police Command to do the needful, and I will personally monitor it. Rape is barbaric, and we must do everything to curtail it.

Also, the PRO commended @PIDOMNIGERIA for reporting the situation “Thanks for calling our attention to it and following through.” He added.
