They went further to extend their appreciation to Governor Oyebanji for approving the sum of N20 million for the commencement of the Ekiti State Legislative Staff Loans Board.
Also, PASAN urged the state government and the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to implement the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure, CONLESS, for staff.
The statement reads: “This move, they emphasised, not only acknowledges the importance of the staff’s roles but also provides much-needed relief and security for the affected individuals and their families.
“Additionally, the Ekiti State Chapter of PASAN commended Governor Oyebanji for his proactive stance in supporting the welfare of legislative staff by approving the sum of N20 million complementing efforts made by the Rt. Hon Speaker, Adeoye Stephen ARIBASOYE, for the commencement of the Ekiti State Legislative Staff Loans Board.
“This initiative, they noted, demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to shared prosperity vision, well-being, and empowerment of the state’s legislative workforce, recognizing their pivotal role in the governance and÷ legislative process of Ekiti State.
“PASAN Ekiti State Chapter extended its sincere appreciation to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his compassionate leadership and proactive measures in addressing the needs of legislative staff, affirming their confidence in his administration’s continued efforts to uplift the welfare of the workforce and advance the interests of the state.
“However, PASAN also drew the attention of the Ekiti State government to the February 28, 2024, deadline for the implementation of the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS) for staff.
“This deadline was set as per the memorandum reached by stakeholders before the strike called by the National body of the union relating to financial autonomy of the legislature and the payment of CONLESS to all categories of staff was suspended.
“PASAN emphasised the importance of implementing this agreement to ensure fair compensation and proper recognition of the valuable contributions of legislative staff to the governance process in Ekiti State and Nigeria in general.”
