Ortom Beckons for Postponement of 2023 Population Census

By Udesinanna Stephen

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom have beckoned for the postponement of the 2023 National Population Census pending the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North Central region of the country.

The Governor disclosed this in a meeting with the leadership of the Middle Belt Forum, who came to sympathise with him.

It could be recalled, the Daily Trust Newspapers recently reported that, “atleast 134 people were been killed by armed invaders within five days in separate attacks on villages in Otukpo, Apa and Guma Local Government Areas of the state.”

The Governor said the state’s anti-grazing law subsists and will be enforced after a two-week of grace to allow herdsmen to exit the state.
