Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has explained why he reduced civil servants’ wage award to N15,000, from N35,000.

He said the reduction was to enable his administration get enough resources to pay the wage award for workers of the state-owned tertiary institutions.

Aiyedatiwa, who spoke in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the payment of the wage award would run for six months, with the reduction following approval of the payment of N35,000 monthly wage award to workers of state-owned tertiary institutions.

This was approved after last week’s meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions and leaders of the workers of the institutions. He said the inability of the tertiary institutions to pay the award from their subvention necessitated his intervention.

Pensioners in the state, according to the statement, were still receiving N10,000 monthly wage award.
