ONDO AMOTEKUN COMMADER PROFERS SOLUTIONS TO INSECURITY

…as Ekiti NUJ holds public lecture on insecurity

Corruption, weak institutions, cyber threat, social inequality have been listed as some of the factors responsible for insecurity in the country.

The commander of Ondo State Security Network Agency, code named Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye stated this in Ado-Ekiti at a Public Lecture organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council.

Speaking on the topic of the lecture titled: “Breaking the Barriers To A Secured Society,” Akogun Adeleye noted that there is need to promote transparency, accountability, social welfare programme to address inequality, enhancing international cooperation and empowering communities to stem the issue of insecurity in the nation.

He explained that Amotekun in the South-West states have formed synergy to ensure that those involved in criminal activities were flush out.

Akogun Adeleye appealed to the governors in the region to equip and pay attention to welfare of security agents for them to perform optimally.

Also speaking at the lecture, a lecturer from Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Dr Olusola Moka appealed to government at all levels to do the needful through continuous empowerment of security agents and address economy challenges facing the nation.

He charged every individual to play pivotal roles by exposing criminal minded people in their various communities.

In his speech, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matter, Mr Ebenzer Ogundana explained that necessary measures have been put in place by the present administration to ensure that residents could sleep with their two eyes closed.

He noted that some criminals involved in the killing of traditional rulers in Oke Ako and kidnapping of pupils in Emure had been arrested, saying this was made possible through the efforts of security agents in the State.

Earlier, Chairman, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Mr Kayode Babatuyi said the lecture was organized to find solutions to the issue of insecurity bedeviling the nation.

At the programme, awards were presented to outstanding Nigerians including Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro and Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale.
