NSCDC OFFICER LANDS IN TROUBLE FOR ASSAULTING LAWYER IN EKITI

…NSCDC commander warns officers against unprofessional conduct

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Ekiti State Command has commenced investigation into an alleged assault on a lawyer who visited one of the command’s divisions last week in Ado-Ekiti.

Roundoffnews gathered that the officer in question has been queried and transferred from the Ado division where the incident occurred.

The lawyer had earlier alleged that he was slapped by the Divisional Officer in charge of Ado Division located at the Post Office where a client of his requested his presence on an alledged assault on one of their neighbors at Federal Housing Estate Oke Ila Ado Ekiti.

According to a statement by the spokesman for the command, the alledged Divisional Officer Chief Superintendent of Corps David Omotuase has been queried and transferred away from the Ado Division and replaced with another Divisional Officer.

The State Command has also set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter for the purpose of dishing out deserved punishment to the officer internally.

The former Ado Divisional Officer will also face the Zonal Disciplinary Committee at Zonal J Headquarters in Osogbo before the final disciplinary committee at the National Headquarters of the Corps in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the State Commandant Mr John Olatunde Fayemi who reacted to the incident as unfortunate vowed to deal decisively with any officer and men who are in the habit of violating Fundamental Human Right of suspects as well as the general public.

Fayemi who said that it is no longer business as usual as the Commandant General Ahmed Abukakar Audi PhD mni OFR has given his words on officers who are not ready to respect the constitution of the land to leave the service or be kicked out from the system.

The Commandant later assured lawyers in the state that the matter will not be swept under the carpet as internal disciplinary actions have commenced and urged the lawyers to continue to partner the command to secure and protect the state from criminals and other lawbreakers.
