The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has disclosed the successful rescue operation conducted by a joint team of policemen and soldiers, rescuing the Al-Kadriyar sisters and other abducted victims from a bandits’ den in Kajuru forest, Kaduna State.

The abduction occurred on January 2, 2024, in the Zuma 1 area of Kawu, Bwari Area Council of Abuja, involving 23 victims. The police confirmed on Sunday that all the abducted individuals, including the five Al-Kadriyar sisters, were rescued around 11 pm on Saturday and have since been reunited with their families.

The Kajuru forest, located in the Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna State, was identified as a camp for the bandits terrorizing the FCT and neighboring states. Security sources revealed that the forest, previously used by the military for training, had been abandoned, providing a haven for criminals.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, detailed the rescue operation in a statement, emphasizing the collaborative effort between the FCT anti-kidnapping squad and the Nigerian Army. The rescue took place around 11:30 pm on Saturday.

SP Adeh expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, for deploying the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad, enhancing the security architecture in the FCT. Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining robust security deployment in the area.

The public was encouraged to report suspicious activities promptly through emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883. Additional contact for the Police Control Room is 09022222352.
