My Saddest Day As EKSU VC— Olanipekun

The 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun has confirmed that he is leaving the University far better than he met it five years ago.

Professor Olanipekun who spoke during an interactive session with Journalists in Ado Ekiti, noted that his administration introduced various initiatives and policies which brought about improved academic and moral excellence.

However, while Professor Olanipekun appreciated God for his appointment and the success recorded so far, the VC said the saddest day of his administration was when the in-house unions were proscribed.

Professor Olanipekun said though he was able to speak with relevant authorities to resolve the matter, he felt very uncomfortable with the decision which he said was taken while he was away.

The VC also said that he would have love that the University has residential facilities for both lecturers and students saying such development remains the best way to promote qualitative teaching, learning and research.

He hoped that his successor would look into such area and make it a reality.

Speaking on his future endeavour, Olanipekun said he would be retiring and take some time off to decide his next step but promised to continue to impact knowledge.
