The Chairman, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPN), Ekiti State Chapter, Comrade Olatunbosun Temitope Isaac, has rejoiced with Ekiti workers particularly members of his union as they join their counterparts all over the world to mark this year’s Workers’ Day.

Comrade Olatunbosun said this in an interview with our correspondents during the May Day celebration in Ado-Ekiti.

He acknowledge the contributions of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria in Ekiti State towards prevention and management of diseases, hence the need to celebrate them.

According to him, the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has upon resumption of office, prioritise the welfare of workers in the state.

The Chairman noted that the Governor had recently approved the elevation of some of his members to Director cadre while some with degrees were upgraded to officers a situation he said gave members sense of belonging.

He seized the opportunity to demand the payment of CONHESS and hazard allowances to the Community Health Workers adding that those at the Secondary and Tertiary levels have started received theirs.

“We give glory to God for sparing the lives of Ekiti State Workers, to witness yet another mayday celebration on this day.

“We appreciate Ekiti State Government, especially the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for taking the bull by the horn as far as the the payment of worker’s emoluments since his good inception of office, it has been so regular.

“However, the CONHESS that is obtainable at the secondary and tertiary level is not the same as the one that is obtainable to the primary health workers and it has created injustice in the system.

“His Excellency promised us that he would set up a Committee to look into the issue. We hope that necessary action would be taken on time to ensure my members are captured.

“It’s not only the issue of COHESS this time around, it is an insult upon the existing injury to discover that another allowance, hazard allowance was approved for the benefits of secondary and tertiary health care workers whereby the primary health care workers were left unattended to.”

” Our services can not be quantified, we are closer to the grassroots, we hope that our Governor will look into our demands and correct all this discripances.
