The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has stated its collaboration with Ekiti State Government for the fabrication of waste bins.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Managing Director/ CEO, LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, declared that the goal of the collaboration is to tackle the myraid of waste management and environmental challenges.
He also stated LAWMA’s commitment to ensuring proper waste management practices within and outside Lagos State, alongside Lagos’ willingness to partner with other states in the area of waste management.
Expressing great pleasure, Mr. Gbadegesin announced the partnership between LAWMA and Ekiti State Government to enhance the fabrication of their waste bin at an affordable rate.
“By fabricating waste bins in-house, gain greater control over quality, production speed, and ultimately, cost-effectiveness.
“This will enable steady supply of bins both in Lagos and other collaborating states like Ekiti, a current beneficiary of the initiative”, he said.
Expressing further on the essence of waste management as a national concern, Gbadegesin said;
“LAWMA’s door is open to any state seeking our assistance. We are offering our expertise to provide technical support, training, and even manpower, to help develop and implement efficient waste management systems in other states.”
In addition, he pointed out that “the engineering department of the agency utilised locally sourced materials to produce durable bins for diverse waste management needs, adding that “other states who are interested can get the bins at affordable rates (at LAWMA).”
