As part of the activities marking the 2024 Press week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, the day 3 of the event kicked off with the much anticipated Iyan festival.
The cultural fiesta, which highlights the significance of Iyan (Pounded yam), a staple food in Ekiti State and brought together Journalists, stakeholders, and the local community for a day filled with fun.
Adding spice and colour to the event was the captivating cultural dance display by the idoma dance group, the Iyan eating competition which featured 3 contestants who were rewarded accordingly with cash prizes at the end of the competition.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion included; Ekiti State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Professor Rasaki Ojo-Bakare, Vice-President, NUJ Zone B, Mrs Ronke Samo, Director-General, Ekiti State Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa, past Ekiti NUJ Chairmen, Rotimi Ojomoyela, Comr. Tai Oguntayo respectively and host of notable members of the Union and beyond.
