The Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy in Ekiti State, Prof. Rasaki Bakare has lauded Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council for promoting culture in the State.
He stated this at the Iyan Day organized by the Union as part of activities marking the 2024 Ekiti NUJ Press Week.
Speaking at the event, he praised the success of the Iyan Day celebration saying that it aligns with the Ministry’s mission to promote Nigerian culture and heritage.
“This event reflects the mandate of my ministry—to promote our culture and way of life,” Bakare stated.
He further announced that from next year, the NUJ Press Week would officially become a collaborative effort between the Ministry and the NUJ.
The Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the NUJ for its consistent support and cooperation.
In his welcome address, Ekiti NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi highlighted the event as a day of unity and celebration, emphasizing the spirit of family among participants.
Representing the NUJ President, Chris Isizugo, Vice-President, NUJ Zone B, Mrs Ronke Samo commended the uniqueness of this year’s Press Week and encouraged its continued celebration.
The event concluded with lively festivities, celebrating the unity and strength of the NUJ community.
