IWD: NYSC Groups Clamour for Women Participation in Governance, Leadership

In a bid to commemorate 2023 International Women’s Day, two Groups of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State have sensitised the Students of Mary Immaculate School on leadership skills in order to give a hand and a voice to young women.

In a Rise Campaign by the groups namely Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and Editorial, led by Kene Nwachukwu, Onwumere Glory and Chike Ikechukwu, they acknowledge the impact, influence and opportunities domicile in the life of every woman.

They noted that women can harness opportunity in an enabling environment as the Scheme has joined the move in establishing National Values and inculcating community awareness of Citizenship and honour.

According to them, “Just maybe writing skill isn’t the most needed tool at this moment in history to tell about the Girl-child.

“Today, we recognise the impact, influence and opportunity domicile in the life of every girl, lady, wife, or mother.

“The margin of equity and coherence in her participation, perhaps from the society and family, has recently received support from men and women alike.

“It is becoming clear that SHE can harness opportunities alongside an enabling environment.

“Today, we see women in business, Art and Culture, Aviation, Legal and even within the Church circles, leading with so much zeal and unprecedented commitment.

“In a bid to give a hand and a voice to this rising “stars”, the Rise campaign led by Kene Nwachukwu of SDG, Onwumere Glory Editorial CDS General Secretary, Chike Ikechukwu of SDG went to Mary Immaculate Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State to build another bridge between the now-women in leadership and those that will come after them.

“The goal 5 of SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) CDS, aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Gender equality is a human right. It is also a precondition for realizing all goals in the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

“Also, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has provided platforms to reach out to these needs and join in establishing National Values and inculcating community awareness of Citizenship and honour.

“Congratulations to every woman out there; striving to lend a voice and contribute to nation-building.”
