INEC Commences Security Training In View of Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi Guber

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced Electoral Security Training, ESP, on itts adhoc staff in view of the 2023 Governorship Election in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States respectively.

The Training exercised which included Officers from the State Commands of various Nigerian Security Agencies in Yenagoa Bayelsa, Owerri Imo and Lokoja, Kogi States, was made known via its Official X account @inecnigeria lately.

According to the Commission, the aim of the training is to inculcate professionalism into the electoral process as well as keep the stakeholders abreast in understanding and disposing their roles.

It reads,” The objective of the training is to get participants up to date with the Initiatives and Innovations introduced by the Commission and to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities as stakeholders in the electoral process. The Workshop also aimed to enhance participants understanding of the Ethical and Legal provisions that guide their operations as well as enhance professionalism in the conduct of ESPs before, during and efter elections.”

More so, the Chairman, Board of Electoral Institute, BEI, Professor Abdullahi Zuru, beckoned on participants to remain committed in their duties, so as to ensure peaceful elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi.

Also, the Director General of the Electoral Institute, Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, while speaking on electoral security, called on the Nigeria Security Agencies for a guaranted free, Fatir, credible, inclusive and peaceful election in the States.
