History: IG of Police appoints First Female Force Secretary

The Inspector-General (of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Assistant IG of Police, Yetunde O. Longe, as the first Female Force Secretary in history.

This was disclosed today in a press statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Abuja, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to the statement published on the Force Facebook handle, the IGP reiterated the non-negotiable principle of gender sensitivity in police appointments, saying that “The inclusion of women in strategic roles is crucial for the comprehensive development and effectiveness of the Police Force assuring that the Force will continue to foster an inclusive environment where merit and capability are the primary criteria for advancement, irrespective of gender.”

He also attested to the dedication of the newly appointed Secretary, Longe, emphasizing on her academic qualifications and career advancement.
