Frustrated Customers Storm Heritage Bank in Ekiti, Demand Refund of Deposits

Some customers of Heritage Bank on Wednesday, stormed the Ado-Ekiti, EKITI State branch of the failed bank to demand payment of their deposits.

Recall, Roundoffnews reported that on June 3, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revoked the banking licence of Heritage Bank following the bank’s “inability to improve its financial performance.”

According to reports, a large crowd of customers in Ado-Ekiti, besieged the bank causing severe traffic disruptions at the nearby Fajuyi Bridge and slowed down movement in the state capital.

The angry customers who expressed their frustration as they have been waiting to be attended to called on Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and labour leaders to urgently intervene to facilitate the retrieval of their deposits from the bank.

Also, some aged customers criticized the bank officials for their lack of response despite arriving early according to them “they had not been attended to us as of 10:10 AM.”

However, others disclosed that they were shocked when they saw the news that heritage bank license had been revoked as they had savings with the bank so it was important that they get refunds.
