Get Set for Incoming Disease Deadlier Than COVID-19, WHO Alerts

By Udesinanna Stephen

The World Health Organization (WHO), has called on the globe to get set for an incoming disease deadlier than the Corona Virus – 2019 (COVID-19).

The WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, made the call during the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

He said “The threat of another variant emerging that causes new surges of disease and death remains. And the threat of another pathogen emerging with even deadlier potential remains.”

This is coming weeks after the WHO declared an end to COVID-19 as a public health urgency for transnational concern.

He urged all concerned bodies to be “ready to answer decisively, collectively and equitably when the pandemic comes knocking.”

Although, he did not mention the name of the said disease.
