As part of measures to consolidate and sustain the gains recorded in the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme in Ekiti State, the Federal Government has partnered Life and Peace
Development Organization (LAPDO)and other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Ekiti State.
The CSOs are expected to work with Government in the area of effective monitoring of the program across the state so as to achieve desired results.
To this end, a capacity building workshop was organized by the Federal government in collaboration with LAPDO for representatives of the NGOs and CSOs with the aim of exposing them to necessary information about the project and how to go about the task ahead.
The programme held at LAPDO Mini Hall, Ado Ekiti had also in attendance representatives of Ministries Departments and Agencies as well as officials of the Ekiti Home Grown School Feeding Program.
The step-down is to build capacity of NGOs and CSOs to monitor the program and ensure accoumtabiluty. Acknowledge the support of Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development
In a remark, the State Lead Monitor who is also the Deputy Executive Director with Life and Peace Development Organisation (LAPDO), Bukola Adedeji welcomed participants to the training and urged them to give the program the desired support.
Adedeji affirmed that the aim of the workshop was to ensure that the participants have better understanding of the scheme and how to carry out the task ahead so as to achieve outstanding result.
According to Adedeji, the Home Grown School Feeding Program is an initiative of the Federal Government unveiled to address the issue of malnutrition in pupils, encourage enrolment and provide wealth opportunity for small holder farmers and small scale entrepreneurs.
Also, the representative of the Programme Manager, Home Grown School Feeding Programme Mr Adeniyi Adebayo said all hands must be on deck to sustain the programme due to its importance to the economy and education sector.
According to him, Ekiti Government is committed at improving and sustaining HGSFP in the State.
In their separate remarks, the participants described the workshop as an eye opener with a promise to ensure proper monitoring of the program to check any Unwholesome practices that may ruin the programme.
