As part of its mission in supporting successive governments in the drive towards poverty reduction, value-orientation, and skill acquisition in Ekiti State, the Adedayo Oluwasanmi Foundation took its empowerment program to Emure Local Government of the state where hundred of residents were supported with food and other relief materials.
The donation which took place at the Emure Palace had in attendance the regent of Emure, Kabiesi Oladimeji Taiwo, Emure Local Government Chairman, Gabriel Monday, Gboyin Local Government chairman, Pastor Akinyeye Adebayo and other dignitaries.
The Foundation CEO, Pharmacist Adedayo Oluwasanmi, in his virtual speech said the foundation was built on the bedrock of loving one’s home town and positively impacting the lives of the underprivileged people around him in any little way.
He cited example from the story of Cain and Abel in the Bible which teaches lessons of being one’s brother’s keeper. He said the country is undergoing trying times and it is everyone’s responsibility to ease the hardship as the government can not do it alone.
Pharmacist Adedayo said Nigerians everywhere are bearing a huge economic burden which the root cause of it preceded the administration. He said it is pointless blaming the President or Governor for the troubles confronting the nation but rather let everyone refuse to be like Cain who asked God if he was his brother’s keeper.
The Foundation CEO said his philanthropic work had started for few years and many people ranging from the physically challenged, the sick, orphans, aged ones and other underprivileged people from different Local Government Area in the State have benefited.
In his words, he said “the foundation has financially supported over 200 people in its own little way with donation of food items during Ibewo Alafia Program, three times donation of drugs to health facility and today’s food palliative is also extending our love and care to about 100 people in this Local Government in addition to other 200 beneficiaries in other community.”
He added that “for the various future programs, we hope to touch every group of our brothers and sisters in Aiyekire, Ekiti East and Emure Local Government Area through the following programs: Purchase of WAEC forms for 100 students from each LGA, continuous distribution of food items for indigent persons in the LGAs and Welfare Cash gifts for identified persons in the LGAs.”
“Others include, digital literacy equipment including computers for secondary schools in the LGAs, and payment/clearance of hospital bills of some indigent persons with medical need in our public hospitals.”
The Chairman, Emure Local Government, Honorable Gabriel Monday commended the foundation CEO for the kind gesture towards the people. He urged well meaning people to emulate the act of kindness, saying so many people are in dire need of help around everyone.
Gboyin Local Government chairman, Pastor Akinyeye Adebayo also appreciated the foundation for the good work, adding that the foundation had done their philanthropic work two times in Gboyin Local Government. He encourage people to emulate the act of giving back to the society, while urging all the beneficiaries to pray for the givers.
The Regent of Emure, Kabiesi Oladimeji Taiwo, appreciated the Oluwasanmi foundation for recognizing Emure and charged individuals to endeavor to emulate the good work by rendering assistance in whichever ways to their neighbor who needs help. The monarch urged parents to train their wards and pray to God to grant them all the wisdom to do good things like this for the society.
The mother of the CEO Adedayo Oluwasanmi Foundation, also a retired Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State, Pharmacist Ajoke Oluwasanmi, urged Emure women to continue to pray for their children, adding that whatever prayer said by mothers to their children usually goes a long way in shaping their lives.
She disclosed that the beneficiaries were selected randomly from physically challenged down to widows and chosen ones from each wards in the Local Government.
She added that the food palliative would not be a one time thing.
The atmosphere were filled with excitement as they expressed their deep appreciation not just for the food, but for the act of kindness and compassion it represents
