Engr Akomolafe Hails Appointment of Egbetokun as IGP, Seeks Revamp of Police Culture

Politician and businessman, Engr Henrich Akomolafe wants the newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to ensure complete reform of the police Force and bring an end to cases of Police brutality.

Akomolafe, a youth development advocate and Forbes 30 under 30 Alumnus made this known when he paid a congratulatory visit to the new Police Chief at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Highlighting some of the negative perceptions about police officers by members of the public, Akomolafe noted that developing a new culture whereby police officers are extremely civil would “increase respect for the force and bridge the gap in trust between officers and the public”

He however expressed confidence in the new Police Chief to deliver.

“IGP Egbetokun’s reputation precedes him and I wish him success in this all important responsibility of reforming the Police Force and ensuring the security of the Nation.

It is my prayer that his tenure would be marked by integrity, diligence, civility and commitment to upholding the rule of law,” Akomolafe said.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun said he was not oblivious of the weight of expectations linked to his appointments and promised to leave a worthy legacy.

The Police Chief, has since his appointment late last month, promised to” regularize and standardize police operations and restore public trust in the Police Force.”
