Ekiti Widows, PWD Declare Support For PDP, Say APC has Failed

A large number of widows and Persons with Disabilities, PWD, in Ekiti State have resolved to vote and support of candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, during next month’s general elections.

The women and Persons with Disabilities were brought together by a Non Governmental Organization, Voice of the Widows, in partnership with PDP with the aim of sensitizing them on issues relating to elections.

The maiden Town Hall Meeting and Voters Sensitization for Atiku Abubarkar in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, witnessed presentation of gifts by the organization to the women to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship.

Speaking during the programme, the participants in their large number brought out their PVCs to confirm their eligibility to vote during the election.

According to them, the APC government has failed to give them any sense of belonging nor attend to their needs hence the need to support PDP.

They noted that leaders in PDP precisely, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Mrs Lanre Fajuyi and Henrich Akomolafe have shown love and support to them over the years adding that a vote for them is a hope of better future for them.

Earlier, the convener of the programme, Mrs Fajuyi said the programme was to extend love to the widows and persons with disabilities.

She expressed concern over the poor attention of government of APC for the vulnerable persons in the society.

Mrs Fajuyi appealed to the gathering to convince more people at their various Communities to vote for all PDP candidates during the election.

Addressing the gathering, the Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District who is also seeking re-election, Chief Olujimi sympathized with the widows and Persons with Disabilities urging them not to allow their situation weigh them down.

She urged them to vote for PDP during the election with a promise that they would be well rewarded through job creation, empowerment, social support scheme, security and health care services.

Also, the PDP candidate representing, Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1, Henrich Akomolafe, said APC has shown that they lacked the capacity to make Nigeria better hen e they should not be giving any chance again.
